The latest renewable energy news include announcements on SunShare, CSolPower, Shanghai Electric, JA Solar, Juniper Sol project in Santa Fe County, and others.
SunShare Energizes 10.5 MW of New Mexico Community Solar Capacity
SunShare and CSolPower have energized their first two community solar gardens in New Mexico, adding a combined 10.5 MWdc. The Juniper Sol project in Santa Fe County provides 6 MWdc across 31 acres, enough to serve nearly 2,000 homes, while the Rockhound Sol project in Deming contributes 4.5 MWdc. Both were energized on July 1, 2026. Juniper Sol is expected to avoid 261 million pounds of carbon dioxide, and 50 percent of subscribers are income-qualified households. SunShare says participating families will benefit from the project for the next 25 years. The developer has also committed more than $7 million to community organizations and has developed nearly 100 fully subscribed community solar gardens across Colorado, Minnesota and New Mexico.
Shanghai Electric Supplies 8,000 Tonnes of Biomethanol in World-Record Marine Bunkering Operation
Shanghai Electric, Shanghai International Port Group and CMA CGM completed a record 8,000-metric-ton biomethanol bunkering operation at Shanghai’s Yangshan Port on August 17, 2026. Shanghai Electric’s Taonan green methanol project in Jilin supplied the principal volume, demonstrating commercial-scale production and delivery of renewable marine fuel. The supply chain links production in Jilin with storage and transit through Dalian Port before final bunkering in Shanghai. Taonan combines renewable electricity from wind and solar resources with biomass feedstock and uses Shanghai Electric-developed processing technology. The company is now accelerating Taonan Phase II, integrating green hydrogen with biomass gasification to expand production of green methanol and sustainable aviation fuel. The project targets rising low-carbon fuel demand from global maritime and aviation customers.
JA Solar Powers New Zealand’s Largest Rooftop Solar System for Fisher & Paykel Healthcare
JA Solar has supplied modules for what the companies describe as New Zealand’s largest rooftop photovoltaic installation, supporting Fisher & Paykel Healthcare’s renewable-energy transition. The project is installed at the healthcare equipment manufacturer’s operations and represents a significant commercial-and-industrial solar deployment, using large rooftop space to generate renewable electricity directly at the point of consumption. The installation strengthens Fisher & Paykel Healthcare’s efforts to reduce dependence on grid electricity and lower operational emissions while demonstrating the potential of distributed solar for large manufacturing facilities. JA Solar is supplying photovoltaic technology for the project as commercial and industrial customers increasingly combine onsite solar generation with broader corporate decarbonization programs. The development also signals the growing scale of rooftop PV projects in New Zealand’s industrial sector.
