The latest renewable energy news includes announcements from Sturdee Energy, Jet Zero Australia, ADB funding in India, and others.

Sturdee Energy Acquires 200 MW Masaiti Wind Project in Zambia

Sturdee Energy has entered Zambia through the acquisition of the 200 MW Masaiti Wind Project from Upepo Energy, expanding its renewable-energy footprint in Southern Africa. Located in Mpongwe District in Zambia’s Copperbelt, the late-stage project will connect to a nearby 330-kV ZESCO transmission line. More than six years of onsite wind measurements have supported resource assessment. Sturdee plans to combine Masaiti’s wind generation with solar PV and battery storage to create a more consistent 24-hour clean-power profile, potentially serving ZESCO, industrial users, miners and Southern African Power Pool markets. Sturdee will take full ownership when construction begins. Zambia aims to expand national generation capacity to around 10 GW by 2030 while tripling copper production by 2031.

Jet Zero Australia Raises AUD30 Million as $1.1 Billion SAF Project Moves Toward FID

Jet Zero Australia has completed an AUD30 million funding round and secured final development approval for its Project Ulysses sustainable aviation fuel refinery in Townsville. Existing strategic backers Qantas and Airbus participated, while Posco International joined as a new investor. The wider project is estimated at about AUD1.1 billion and is designed to produce sustainable aviation fuel and renewable diesel. Jet Zero is targeting a final investment decision in late 2026, with production planned for 2028. The project could support around 1,000 construction jobs and 100 permanent positions. The financing, new strategic investor and final approval represent three material milestones moving the Australian biofuels project closer to construction.

ADB Targets $1 Billion Private Investment for Madhya Pradesh Renewable Projects

The Asian Development Bank has signed its first transaction-advisory-services mandate in India with the Madhya Pradesh government, targeting up to $1 billion of private investment in renewable-energy infrastructure. ADB will advise the state on structuring and implementing three clean-energy PPP projects. The pipeline includes a solar-generation and battery-storage project at Shajapur intended to meet peak electricity demand and strengthen grid stability. The agreement was signed in Bhopal by ADB India Country Director Mio Oka in the presence of Chief Minister Mohan Yadav. The initiative is designed to create bankable project structures capable of attracting private capital and supports Madhya Pradesh’s objective of sourcing around 50 percent of electricity demand from renewables by 2030.
