Skyborn Secures Over €3 Billion for 976.5 MW Gennaker Offshore Wind Farm
Skyborn Renewables has reached financial close on the 976.5 MW Gennaker offshore wind project in Germany’s Baltic Sea, securing more than €3 billion ($3.47 billion) to move the development into construction. The financing represents one of Europe’s largest renewable-energy transactions announced this week and provides the capital required to advance the nearly 1 GW project. Gennaker will significantly expand Germany’s offshore wind capacity as the country pursues ambitious renewable-power targets. The financial close is particularly important amid rising financing and construction costs across European offshore wind. Skyborn’s ability to secure more than €3 billion demonstrates continued lender appetite for large projects with advanced development status and strengthens the offshore wind investment pipeline in the German Baltic Sea.
Premier Energies and RCT Plan 12 GWh Battery Factory in India
Indian solar manufacturer Premier Energies and German renewable-energy technology company RCT have agreed to establish a joint venture focused on battery energy storage system manufacturing in India. The partners plan a facility with 12 GWh of annual BESS manufacturing capacity, representing a major diversification for Premier Energies beyond photovoltaic manufacturing. The investment comes as India rapidly expands solar and wind capacity and increases requirements for batteries capable of shifting renewable electricity to periods of higher demand. Domestic BESS production is becoming strategically important as utilities, renewable developers and commercial customers seek storage without relying heavily on imports. The joint venture could address utility-scale, commercial and industrial storage demand and strengthen India’s domestic clean-energy manufacturing ecosystem as battery deployments accelerate.
VALOREM and Google Sign PPA for 97.3 MW Finnish Wind Project
VALOREM Group and Google have announced a long-term power purchase agreement covering 97.3 MW of capacity from the Matkussaari onshore wind project in Finland. The contract adds another sizeable Finnish renewable-power source to Google’s electricity procurement portfolio. For VALOREM, the PPA provides contracted revenues that can strengthen project economics and financing visibility. Finland continues to attract corporate-backed wind investment because of favourable wind resources and growing electricity demand from industrial and technology companies. The 97.3 MW Matkussaari agreement follows the wider European trend of large corporations directly supporting renewable generation through long-term contracts rather than relying exclusively on conventional electricity procurement. Google’s latest Finnish wind deals also illustrate the scale of renewable electricity required by expanding digital infrastructure and the role technology companies can play in stimulating new generation investment.
