Ocean Winds Receives First Monopiles for 390 MW BC-Wind Offshore Project in Poland

Ocean Winds has received the first monopile foundations for its 390 MW BC-Wind offshore wind project at the Świnoujście Offshore Terminal in Poland. Announced October 28 and covered in the latest reporting cycle, the delivery marks the beginning of offshore foundation logistics. BC-Wind will incorporate 26 Siemens Gamesa turbines, supported by 27 monopile foundations, including one for the offshore substation. The monopiles measure approximately 9.5–10.5 metres in diameter and 66–89 metres in length. Offshore foundation installation is scheduled to begin during H1 2027. The wind farm is located approximately 23 kilometres off Poland’s coast and is expected to generate electricity equivalent to annual consumption by approximately 488,000 households.

Synera Renewable Energy Secures DNV Foundation Design Approval for 495 MW Formosa 4 Wind Farm

Taiwanese offshore wind developer Synera Renewable Energy has received a Statement of Compliance from DNV for the foundation design of its 495 MW Formosa 4 offshore wind project. Announced October 30, the certification confirms compliance with applicable technical standards and supports subsequent foundation fabrication and installation. Located 18–20 kilometres off Miaoli County, Taiwan, the project will be developed in water depths of 57–64 metres. The wind farm will use three-legged jacket foundations averaging 91 metres in height and 2,500 tonnes in weight. Foundation pin piles will measure approximately 80–101 metres. Formosa 4 is designed to accommodate up to 35 wind turbines and generate approximately 2 TWh annually when operational.

Vattenfall Commissions 24.6 MW Wind-Solar Hybrid Project in Germany with Shared Grid Connection

Swedish electricity company Vattenfall has inaugurated its first combined wind and solar power project in Germany. Announced October 30, the Hommerdingen-Biesdorf hybrid facility in Rhineland-Palatinate combines 17 MW of wind capacity with 7.6 MWp of solar generation. The project incorporates four Enercon wind turbines and more than 12,000 photovoltaic modules. Both technologies share a single grid connection operated by Westnetz, reducing connection infrastructure requirements and improving network utilisation. The solar facility connects through the wind farm’s existing electrical infrastructure. The project is located in the Südeifel region near Luxembourg. Vattenfall previously implemented similar hybrid configurations in the Netherlands and the United Kingdom. Commercial operation follows construction initiated earlier in 2026.
