Montenegro Approves €40 Million Grid Infrastructure Acquisition for 488 MW Wind Projects
Montenegro’s electricity transmission operator CGES has received shareholder approval to acquire grid infrastructure valued at approximately €40 million for two proposed wind farms with 488 MW of combined capacity. The projects comprise the 136 MW Sinjajevina 1 wind farm, developed by Energy 2, and the 352 MW Sinjajevina 2 project, developed by a consortium involving N1, SISTEM-MNE and Permonte. The required infrastructure includes a 400/110 kV substation and associated transmission connections. The Sinjajevina 2 developers will construct the infrastructure, which CGES will subsequently acquire through instalments over ten years. Grid connection infrastructure is expected to enter operation in 2030, subject to project development and construction progress.
