Madison Energy and CORE Electric Announce 50 MW/200 MWh Battery Portfolio in Colorado

US renewable infrastructure developer Madison Energy Infrastructure has announced a 50 MW/200 MWh battery storage portfolio for CORE Electric Cooperative in Colorado. The agreement, announced October 26, covers three battery installations designed to strengthen electricity distribution infrastructure and support rising power demand. The projects will use Tesla Megapack battery technology and are among the first developments supported by Madison’s $50 million agreement with Tesla. Commercial operation is expected by September 2027. CORE Electric serves more than 375,000 residents across approximately 5,000 square miles in central Colorado. The battery portfolio will support network flexibility, peak-demand management and electricity reliability as local industrial and residential consumption increases.

Singapore Approves 1.3 GW Renewable Electricity Imports from Vietnam and Malaysia

Singapore’s Energy Market Authority has granted conditional approval to Sembcorp Utilities for a 1.3 GW cross-border renewable electricity project involving Vietnam, Malaysia and Singapore. Announced October 26, the development will combine offshore wind generation in Vietnam with solar power and battery storage in Malaysia. Electricity will be transmitted through Malaysia, which will also receive part of the renewable supply, before reaching Singapore. The consortium includes Sembcorp Utilities, PetroVietnam Technical Services Corporation, Tenaga Nasional Berhad and PETRONAS. Commercial electricity imports are targeted for 2035. The developers must obtain further regulatory approvals, finalise electricity purchase agreements and secure project financing. The approval advances regional electricity transmission and renewable-energy integration.
