Fred. Olsen Windcarrier to Install Turbines at 980-MW Gennaker Offshore Wind Farm

Fred. Olsen Windcarrier has been selected by Siemens Gamesa to install 63 SG 14-236 DD offshore wind turbines at the 980-MW Gennaker offshore wind farm in the German Baltic Sea. Installation is scheduled to begin in 2027. The SG 14-236 DD turbines have a rated capacity of up to 15 MW and feature one of the largest rotor diameters at 236 meters. Gennaker is being developed by German utility EnBW and will be one of Germany’s largest offshore wind farms once operational. This contract builds on Fred. Olsen Windcarrier’s strong track record in turbine installation and highlights its growing role in large-scale European offshore projects focused on energy transition and decarbonization.

Qualitas Energy Acquires 100 MW of German Wind Assets

Qualitas Energy has acquired a portfolio of three wind farms in Germany with a combined capacity of 100 MW. The assets, located in Lower Saxony and Saxony-Anhalt, were purchased from an undisclosed seller and include 15 operational turbines and a 20-MW repowering project. The acquisition aligns with Qualitas Energy’s strategy to expand its renewable energy footprint in core European markets. The company, which manages over 5 GW of renewable capacity globally, aims to optimize the performance of existing assets while pursuing repowering opportunities to boost output and extend asset lifespans. This move supports Germany’s energy transition goals and enhances Qualitas’ position in the wind sector through operational excellence and local partnerships.

Acciona Energia to Sell 440 MW Spanish Wind Portfolio

Acciona Energia plans to divest a 440 MW operational wind portfolio in Spain as part of its capital recycling strategy to fund new growth projects. The portfolio includes 62 wind farms across several Spanish regions, primarily equipped with turbines manufactured by Acciona Windpower. These assets generated over 1 TWh of electricity in 2023. The sale process, launched with advisors from Citi and Santander, is aimed at strategic investors seeking stable, long-term renewable income. This move aligns with Acciona Energía’s objective to reallocate capital into higher-growth opportunities, such as international expansion and new renewable developments. The company’s ongoing strategy emphasizes sustainability, strong cash generation, and technological innovation in clean energy operations and asset optimization.
