Flotation Energy and Vargronn Complete NorthConnect Acquisition

Flotation Energy and Vargronn have completed the acquisition of the NorthConnect interconnector project, a proposed 1.4GW electricity link between Scotland and Norway. The subsea cable aims to enhance energy security, support cross-border renewable energy trading, and improve grid stability in both countries. Originally initiated by a consortium of European energy firms, NorthConnect had faced delays but now gained new momentum under its new owners. Flotation and Vargronn plan to evaluate the project’s potential in the context of evolving energy needs, with a focus on accelerating the energy transition across the North Sea region.

Valorem Joins Astenn Avel Floating Wind Bid

French renewable energy firm Valorem has joined the Astenn Avel consortium to support its bid for a floating wind project off the coast of Brittany, France. The consortium, which includes Elicio and BayWa r.e., is competing in the French AO5 tender for a 250MW floating wind farm. Valorem will bring its expertise in community engagement and local development, strengthening the consortium’s regional ties. The Astenn Avel bid aims to deliver clean energy while fostering local economic benefits, industrial development, and innovation in floating offshore wind technology in France.

CleanChoice Buys 54.2 MW of Solar Projects in New York

CleanChoice Energy has acquired 54.2MW of community solar projects in New York from EDF Renewables North America. The portfolio includes eight projects across the state and will provide clean energy to thousands of residential and commercial customers through community solar subscriptions. The acquisition supports CleanChoice’s mission to expand access to renewable energy and accelerate the transition to a cleaner grid. The projects are expected to become operational in 2025, contributing to New York’s climate goals and reinforcing CleanChoice’s role as a leading community solar provider in the U.S.

Waaree Solar Tapped to Supply Modules for 599-MW Project in US

India-based Waaree Energies has secured a major contract to supply solar modules for a 599MW project in the United States. Under the agreement, Waaree will deliver its modules in 2024 to an undisclosed U.S.-based developer. The project highlights Waaree’s growing presence in the international market and supports the expansion of large-scale solar capacity in the U.S. This deal marks one of Waaree’s largest overseas orders and aligns with the company’s strategy to become a key global supplier amid rising demand for clean energy infrastructure.

Avangrid Energises 44-MW Solar Park in California’s Kern County

Avangrid has energised its 44MW Camino Solar project in Kern County, California. The solar park is now delivering clean electricity to the grid and supports California’s renewable energy and decarbonisation goals. Camino Solar is expected to generate enough power for over 20,000 homes annually. The project also contributes to local economic development through job creation and tax revenues. Avangrid, a subsidiary of Iberdrola, continues to expand its U.S. renewable portfolio, with Camino marking another step in its strategy to support a cleaner and more resilient energy future.
