Tesla Signs 140 MW Texas Solar PPA with Zelestra
Renewable energy developer Zelestra has signed a long-term power purchase agreement (PPA) with Tesla covering 140 MWdc of solar capacity in Texas. The agreement is tied to Zelestra’s 200-MWdc Brazoria 1 solar project, which is currently under construction south of Houston. Under the contract, Tesla will purchase roughly 75% of the electricity generated by the solar farm, securing renewable power for its operations while providing long-term revenue certainty for the project. The deal strengthens Zelestra’s growing presence in the US renewable energy market and demonstrates continued corporate demand for utility-scale solar power in Texas. The project will contribute additional clean electricity to the state’s grid while supporting Tesla’s renewable energy procurement strategy.
Bondada Acquires Majority Stake in 225 MW Maharashtra Solar Portfolio
India’s Bondada Engineering Ltd has acquired a majority stake in a 225-MW solar power portfolio in Maharashtra, expanding its presence in the country’s renewable energy sector. The transaction covers utility-scale photovoltaic projects and strengthens Bondada’s position beyond its engineering and EPC activities into renewable energy ownership and development. The acquisition comes as India continues to accelerate solar deployment to meet rising electricity demand and national clean-energy targets. Adding 225 MW to its portfolio gives Bondada greater exposure to long-term solar generation opportunities while supporting Maharashtra’s expansion of renewable electricity capacity. The investment also reflects increasing activity by Indian engineering and infrastructure companies in acquiring and developing operational and pipeline renewable energy assets.
Georgia Power Opens 49.5 MW Moody Battery Storage Facility Paired with Solar
Georgia Power has inaugurated the Moody Battery Energy Storage System (BESS), a 49.5 MW facility paired with the nearby Moody solar plant in Lowndes County. The battery can discharge electricity continuously for four hours, storing surplus solar generation during low-demand periods and supplying power during peak demand to improve grid resilience. The Moody project is one of four battery storage facilities totaling 715 MW currently being completed across Georgia. State regulators have also approved nine additional battery storage projects exceeding 3,000 MW and two new solar-plus-storage projects with a combined capacity of 350 MW. Georgia Power serves 2.8 million customers across 155 of Georgia’s 159 counties.
