SSE Backs 52-MW Onshore Wind Build-Out in Europe

SSE Renewables has committed to supporting the construction of 52 MW of new onshore wind capacity across Europe, marking a significant investment in the region’s renewable energy growth. The projects will incorporate innovative turbine technology to boost efficiency, minimise environmental impact, and reduce generation costs. Once operational, they will supply clean, affordable electricity to thousands of customers, helping to cut carbon emissions and enhance local energy resilience. This initiative reflects SSE’s customer-focused approach, delivering sustainable power solutions that benefit communities while promoting economic growth and green job creation. The expansion further strengthens SSE’s role as a leader in renewable innovation, supporting Europe’s broader decarbonisation and clean energy transition goals through responsible, forward-looking development.

ScottishPower Renewables Repowers Hagshaw Hill Wind Farm in Scotland

ScottishPower Renewables, part of the Iberdrola Group, has completed the repowering of the Hagshaw Hill Wind Farm in South Lanarkshire, Scotland’s first commercial wind site. The project involves replacing 26 older turbines with 14 new, high-efficiency models, boosting capacity from 42 MW to 79 MW. This major investment enhances energy output while reducing maintenance and environmental impact. Using innovative turbine technology, the repowered site will generate enough clean electricity to power more than 61,000 homes annually. The initiative reflects ScottishPower’s customer-focused commitment to reliable, affordable green energy and supports local employment and supply chain growth. Hagshaw Hill’s upgrade underscores the company’s leadership in innovation, sustainability, and Scotland’s clean energy transition.

GSC Group Signs MoU for 1.5-GW Pumped Storage Project in India

GSC Group has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Maharashtra government to develop a 1.5-GW pumped storage hydropower project, marking a major investment in India’s renewable infrastructure. The project will store excess renewable energy and release it during peak demand, ensuring stable, affordable power for customers while supporting grid reliability. Using innovative pumped storage technology, it will help integrate large-scale solar and wind resources, improving system flexibility and reducing carbon emissions. The initiative highlights GSC Group’s customer-focused approach to delivering sustainable and efficient energy solutions. Once operational, the project will strengthen India’s energy security, create local jobs, and contribute significantly to the country’s clean energy transition and net-zero targets.
