Neoen Starts Construction of 179 MW Narrogin Wind Farm
Neoen has started construction of its 179-MW Narrogin Wind Farm in Western Australia after securing a long-term power purchase agreement with Synergy covering 100 percent of the project’s generation. Located around 200 km southeast of Perth, the facility will feature 23 EN182-7.8 MW Envision Energy turbines and connect to the South West Interconnected System through an existing 220-kV transmission line. The wind farm will generate enough renewable electricity to meet approximately 3 percent of annual electricity demand on the SWIS, equivalent to powering nearly 100,000 homes each year. Narrogin represents Neoen’s fourth major project and its first wind farm in Western Australia. Envision Energy, UGL and CPB Contractors have received notices to proceed with project construction.
Ignitis Invests EUR 35m in 107 MW Latvia BESS
Ignitis Group has approved a final investment decision of up to EUR 35 million (USD 40.8 million) for a battery energy storage system in Tume, Latvia. The project will have a capacity of 107.2 MW/214.5 MWh, strengthening grid flexibility and supporting greater renewable energy integration. Developed by Ignitis Renewables, the facility is expected to reach commercial operations by the end of 2027. The Tume project expands Ignitis’ battery storage portfolio in the Baltic region and supports its strategic target of developing 4 GW–5 GW of green and flexible generation capacity. Once operational, the BESS will help balance electricity supply and demand, improve energy-system reliability and support Latvia’s transition toward a more secure, flexible and low-carbon power system.
BSTOR Secures EUR 22m for 150 MW Belgian BESS
Belgian energy storage developer BSTOR has secured EUR 22 million (USD 25.1 million) in funding to advance 2 battery energy storage system (BESS) projects in Belgium with a combined capacity of 150 MW. The financing will support construction of the 100-MW ESTOR-LUX II project in Bastogne and the 50-MW ESTOR-LUX III facility in Aubange. Both projects are designed to strengthen Belgium’s electricity grid by providing flexibility and supporting greater integration of renewable energy. The investment expands BSTOR’s growing battery storage portfolio, which includes the operational 10-MW/20-MWh ESTOR-LUX system and the 50-MW/140-MWh D-STOR project. The new 150 MW of capacity represents another significant step in Belgium’s expansion of large-scale battery infrastructure and energy-system resilience.
