Infinity Power-Led 1GW Hybrid Project in Egypt Seeks European Financing

Infinity Power is seeking European financing support for a major hybrid renewable energy project in Egypt that will combine 1GW of solar generation with 600MWh of battery energy storage. The proposed development, known as the Nefer Menya project, will be located in the desert hinterland of Menya Governorate.  The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development is considering providing a senior secured non-recourse loan for the project, which would become one of Egypt’s first utility-scale renewable developments integrating large-scale battery storage. The financing proposal was disclosed in May 2026, although final funding details and approval timelines have not yet been confirmed.  The project company is majority owned by Infinity Power with a 51 percent stake, while the remaining 49 percent is held by HAU Energy, a platform backed by Meridiam, Hassan Allam Utilities and the EBRD. Infinity Power itself is a joint venture between Egypt’s Infinity and Abu Dhabi-based Masdar.  The hybrid facility is intended to help address Egypt’s electricity shortages, reduce dependence on imported LNG and support the country’s target of increasing renewable energy penetration to 42 percent of the energy mix by 2030. The project also reflects accelerating investment in integrated solar-plus-storage infrastructure across North Africa and the Middle East.

Enerside Advances Over 600MW of Italian Solar Projects

Enerside Energy SA has secured key regulatory and administrative milestones for more than 600MW of solar and battery storage projects under development in Italy. The progress strengthens the company’s position in one of Europe’s fastest-growing renewable energy markets.  A major milestone was achieved for the Mussomeli project in Sicily, which combines approximately 62.8MW of solar generation with 15MW of battery energy storage. The project has received a favourable environmental impact assessment alongside grid connection and urban planning approvals, allowing it to continue through the final authorisation process.  Enerside also obtained approval from Italian grid operator Terna for around 575MW of projects located across Sicily, Sardinia and Puglia. Additional projects have received favourable evaluations from local authorities and public administrations.  The developments align with Enerside’s broader strategic plan targeting 2GW of ready-to-build renewable projects during 2025–2026, with Italy identified as one of its key growth markets. The company operates across Italy, Spain, Brazil and Chile as both a project developer and independent power producer.

BattMan Energy Sells 50MW Danish Battery Storage Project

BattMan Energy has sold a shovel-ready 50MW/150MWh battery energy storage project in Grenaa, Denmark, to UK-based ENKA Energy Transition. The project has already secured all permits and grid connection approvals and is expected to become the largest battery storage facility in Eastern Jutland.  The battery storage system will be constructed by BattMan Energy under an engineering, procurement and construction agreement, with commissioning targeted for the first quarter of 2028. Construction work is expected to begin in 2027, while BattMan Energy will also provide long-term asset management services for the facility.  Once operational, the system will absorb excess wind and solar generation and provide ancillary grid services to improve stability and flexibility in Denmark’s electricity network. The transaction marks ENKA Energy Transition’s first investment in the Danish energy storage market.  The development highlights continued investment and innovation in large-scale battery infrastructure across Europe, supporting renewable integration, grid balancing and long-term energy transition goals as Denmark accelerates deployment of storage technologies

Vesper Energy Expands Leadership Team Amid US Growth

Vesper Energy has promoted six senior executives as the company accelerates expansion of its utility-scale solar and battery storage business across the United States. Effective May 4, 2026, Chad Richwine was named EVP and chief legal officer, Parker Hills became SVP digital infrastructure development, Rick Knauth was promoted to SVP asset management, Edward Shelton to SVP power development, Allen Goodling to VP and general counsel, and Kelly Marino to VP human resources. Co-CEO Juan Suarez said the promotions recognise leaders who have played key roles in building Vesper’s renewable energy platform and driving strategic growth. The company currently operates the 600MW Hornet Solar project in Swisher County, Texas, one of the largest utility-scale solar projects in the US. Vesper Energy also maintains an active development pipeline exceeding 11GW across more than 35 projects in CAISO, ERCOT, MISO, PJM, SPP and WECC electricity markets.
