GE Vernova Wins 163 MW Wind Turbine Order from JSW Energy in India
GE Vernova has secured a 163 MW onshore wind turbine order from JSW Renew Energy Twelve Ltd, a subsidiary of JSW Energy, for a renewable energy project in Karnataka, India. Under the agreement, GE Vernova will supply 45 units of its 3.6 MW-154 wind turbines and provide a multi-year operations and maintenance (O&M) agreement to ensure long-term performance and reliability. The project will supply clean electricity to Indian Metals & Ferro Alloys Ltd (IMFA) through a captive power arrangement, helping the company reduce carbon emissions and improve energy security. The order reinforces GE Vernova’s position in India’s growing wind energy sector while supporting the country’s renewable energy expansion through advanced, high-efficiency onshore wind technology.
Floating Wind Could Deliver 40 GW and One-Third of UK Offshore Capacity by 2050
Floating offshore wind could provide around one-third of the UK’s total offshore wind capacity by 2050, according to a new industry report. The study estimates that up to 40 GW of floating wind capacity could be deployed, enabling development in deeper waters unsuitable for fixed-bottom turbines. Reaching this target could create up to 97,000 jobs and contribute approximately £47 billion to the UK economy through investments in manufacturing, ports and the wider supply chain. The report highlights the need for continued government support, regular Contracts for Difference (CfD) auctions and strategic port infrastructure investment to accelerate deployment. Expanding floating wind will strengthen energy security, increase clean electricity generation and support the UK’s Clean Power 2030 and long-term net-zero goals.
Nordex Wins Over 480 MW of Onshore Wind Orders in the US
Nordex Group has secured three new onshore wind turbine orders in the United States with a combined capacity of more than 480 MW, strengthening its position in the North American wind energy market. The contracts include the supply and installation of N163/6.X wind turbines, along with long-term Premium Service agreements to maximise turbine availability and operational performance throughout the projects’ lifecycle. Installation and commissioning are scheduled to begin in 2027. The latest orders expand Nordex’s North American order pipeline and reflect growing demand for utility-scale onshore wind projects as utilities and corporate customers accelerate investments in renewable energy to meet rising electricity demand and decarbonisation targets.
