Today’s renewable energy news includes announcements from Futureal, Base Power, Copenhagen Energy, among others.
Futureal Commissions 8 MWh Battery Storage Systems in Hungary
Futureal Energy Partners, the renewable energy division of Futureal Group, has commissioned two battery energy storage systems (BESS) with a combined capacity of 4 MW/8 MWh at logistics centres in Maglód and Fót, Hungary. The HUF 1.67 billion (EUR 4.6 million/USD 5.3 million) investment received financial support from the European Union under Hungary’s Recovery and Resilience Facility (RRF). The battery systems are designed to improve energy efficiency, optimise electricity consumption and support greater integration of renewable energy. The projects mark another milestone in Futureal’s expanding energy storage portfolio, reinforcing the company’s strategy to develop flexible, low-carbon energy infrastructure across Hungary and other European markets.
Base Power Raises USD 1 Billion and Launches Texas-Made Home Battery
Base Power has secured USD 1 billion in Series D financing, raising its post-money valuation to USD 13 billion, while unveiling Base Core, its first Texas-manufactured home battery. Produced at the company’s Austin, Texas facility, Base Core is designed to provide reliable backup power for homes while supporting grid stability through distributed energy storage. The funding will accelerate manufacturing expansion, deployment of residential battery systems and growth into new markets. Led by CEO Zach Dell, Base Power aims to strengthen grid resilience amid rising electricity demand driven by AI data centres and electrification. The milestone reinforces the company’s position as a leading provider of residential energy storage solutions in the United States.
Copenhagen Energy Sells 19 MW Danish Battery Project to EW Group Subsidiary
Copenhagen Energy has sold its 18.85 MW standalone battery energy storage system (BESS) project in Denmark to Batteri Holding A/S, a subsidiary of EW Group. The transaction marks another milestone in Copenhagen Energy’s strategy of developing and divesting utility-scale battery assets while expanding its European energy storage pipeline. The project will strengthen grid flexibility by providing balancing services, frequency regulation and support for integrating renewable energy into Denmark’s electricity network. The acquisition enhances EW Group’s growing battery storage portfolio and reinforces investment in flexible grid infrastructure to support the country’s clean energy transition and increasing deployment of renewable power generation.
