FIC Acquires 1.15 GW Jaguar Solar and Battery Storage Platform in Texas
FIC (Falfurrias Infrastructure Capital) has acquired the owner of the Jaguar Solar and Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) platform in Texas, securing a renewable energy development portfolio with a planned capacity of 1.15 GW. The platform comprises multiple utility-scale solar photovoltaic and battery storage projects located across the ERCOT market, positioning FIC to capitalize on growing electricity demand driven by population growth, industrial expansion and data centre development in Texas. The acquisition expands FIC’s clean energy investment portfolio and supports the advancement of projects through development, permitting, interconnection and construction. Once operational, the Jaguar platform is expected to strengthen grid reliability by combining large-scale solar generation with battery storage, enabling greater integration of renewable energy while providing flexible power during periods of peak demand across the Texas electricity market.
Plentify and Deye Partner to Build Africa’s Largest Residential Virtual Power Plant
South African energy technology company Plentify has partnered with Deye, a global manufacturer of residential solar inverters and battery systems, to create what is expected to become Africa’s largest residential Virtual Power Plant (VPP). The initiative will connect more than 160,000 Deye home batteries already installed across South Africa, unlocking approximately 2.7 GWh of flexible battery storage capacity through Plentify’s intelligent VPP platform. The coordinated network will enable distributed home batteries to support grid stability collectively, improve renewable energy integration and reduce peak electricity demand while allowing homeowners to retain control of their energy systems. The partnership also includes the promotion of Plentify’s HotBot smart geyser controller, expanding intelligent home energy management solutions and accelerating South Africa’s transition to a more resilient, decentralised electricity grid.
MaxSolar Selects Sungrow Technology for 125 MWh Battery Storage Projects in Germany
German renewable energy developer MaxSolar has selected Sungrow to supply battery energy storage technology for two grid-supporting battery projects totaling 125 MWh in Bavaria, Germany. The portfolio includes a 25 MWh battery energy storage system in Wutzldorf, connected to the Bayernwerk distribution network, and a larger 100 MWh project in Winterschneidbach. Both installations are designed as five-hour battery systems using Sungrow’s PowerTitan 2.0 liquid-cooled battery energy storage solution. The Wutzldorf project is expected to enter commercial operation in the coming weeks, while deliveries for the Winterschneidbach project are scheduled for November 2026. The battery systems will enhance grid stability, alleviate network congestion during periods of high solar generation, improve power system flexibility, and support greater integration of renewable energy into Germany’s electricity grid as part of MaxSolar’s regional battery storage cluster strategy.
Eku Energy Acquires 300 MW/600 MWh Didcot Battery Storage Project in Oxfordshire
Eku Energy has acquired the planned Didcot Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) from TBC Partners, marking another strategic expansion of its UK energy storage portfolio. Located in Oxfordshire, the project will deliver 300 MW/600 MWh of transmission-connected battery storage and connect to the electricity network via the upgraded Didcot 400 kV National Grid substation. Construction is expected to begin later in 2026, with commercial operations targeted for 2028. The two-hour battery system will provide grid balancing services, store surplus renewable electricity and release power during peak demand, improving grid flexibility and supporting the UK’s Clean Power 2030 objectives. The acquisition strengthens Eku Energy’s long-term investment strategy in utility-scale battery storage and further expands its growing international portfolio of renewable energy infrastructure projects.
