Today’s renewable energy news includes announcements on ENERCON, Vestas, Neoen, among others.
ENERCON Secures 161MW Türkiye Wind Turbine Order
ENERCON has won a 161MW turbine supply contract from Polat Enerji for the Balıkesir 1 wind farm in Türkiye. The deal, signed in Istanbul under the YEKA 5 tender, covers 23 E-175 EP5 E2 turbines, each with a 7.0MW capacity. The project reflects continued investment in Türkiye’s renewable sector and strengthens a long-standing partnership between the two companies. With this development, their combined installed capacity in the country will exceed 1GW, highlighting sustained market growth and customer-focused expansion. Construction is scheduled to begin in September 2027, with commissioning targeted by December 2027. The project showcases innovation through advanced high-capacity turbines, supporting efficient power generation, enhancing energy security, and delivering long-term economic and environmental benefits.
Vestas Secures 50MW Wind Turbine Order in Germany
Vestas has secured a 50MW wind turbine order in Germany as part of its Q2 intake, covering an undisclosed project and customer. The contract includes seven V172-7.2MW turbines along with a 20-year AOM 4000 service agreement, highlighting a strong focus on long-term operational performance and customer support. The deal reflects continued investment in Germany’s onshore wind sector and demonstrates Vestas’ capability to deliver integrated solutions combining advanced turbine technology with lifecycle service innovation. The inclusion of a long-term service contract ensures efficiency, reliability, and optimized energy output for customers. Delivery is scheduled to begin in Q2 2027, with commissioning expected in Q4 2027. The project will contribute to clean energy generation, strengthen energy security, and provide sustained environmental and economic benefits.
Neoen Launches Construction of Irish Solar Projects
Neoen has started construction on two major solar projects in Ireland—Garr Solar Farm (162MWp) in County Offaly and Johnstown North Solar Farm (33MWp) in County Wicklow. The projects were awarded under the RESS 4 auction and will be delivered by Omexom and TLI Group, covering solar arrays, substations and grid connections. Scheduled for completion in 2029 and 2028 respectively, the projects will nearly double Neoen’s Irish capacity to 410MW. Garr will power over 38,000 homes and cut 51,000 tonnes of CO₂ annually, while Johnstown North will supply 8,000 homes and avoid 10,500 tonnes. The development highlights strong investment, innovation in solar deployment, and customer-focused clean energy delivery, supporting lower power costs, energy security, and long-term environmental benefits.
