e-STORAGE to Deliver 420 MWh Battery Storage Systems for Drax in UK

Canadian Solar’s e-STORAGE will deliver 420 MWh of battery energy storage systems (BESS) for Drax across two UK projects, strengthening grid flexibility and renewable integration. The projects include a 60 MW/120 MWh system in Marfleet, England, and a 150 MW/300 MWh installation in Neilston, Scotland, developed by Apatura. The systems will use advanced SolBank 3.0 technology and include long-term service agreements for performance optimization and reliability. Installation is set to begin in Q3 2026 and early 2027. This strategic investment highlights innovation in energy storage, supporting the UK’s transition to a flexible, low-carbon power system while enhancing energy security and enabling greater renewable penetration.
