Today’s renewable energy news includes announcements from Corsica Sole, Banque des, EnBW, CIP, among others.

Corsica Sole and Banque des Territoires Launch BESS Platform

Corsica Sole and Banque des Territoires have launched a new investment platform to develop large-scale battery energy storage systems (BESS) across France. The initiative, named Corsica Sole Hexagone, targets nearly 2 GWh of storage capacity by 2029 and is backed by an investment envelope of up to €150 million. Under the partnership, Corsica Sole holds a majority stake while Banque des Territoires supports financing and development. The platform will fund projects from early development through commissioning, including an initial 50 MW/100 MWh system already under construction.  This innovation enhances grid flexibility and renewable integration, while the customer-focused approach ensures reliable energy supply. The initiative reflects strong investment in storage infrastructure, supporting France’s energy transition and long-term system resilience.

EnBW Begins Construction of Battery Project in Germany

EnBW has started building a 100 MWh battery energy storage system in Germany, strengthening grid flexibility and renewable integration. The project, located at its Marbach site, will deliver 100 MW output and store excess electricity for later use, helping balance supply and demand.  This development highlights innovation in large-scale battery deployment, enabling rapid response to grid fluctuations and improving energy reliability. The customer-focused approach ensures stable and efficient electricity delivery, especially as renewable generation increases. The project also leverages existing grid infrastructure, enhancing efficiency and reducing costs.  The investment reflects EnBW’s strategy to expand storage capacity, supporting Germany’s transition to a resilient and low-carbon energy system.

CIP Starts Construction on Large Battery Project in Chile

Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners has authorised construction of a 300 MW/1,500 MWh battery energy storage system (BESS) project in Chile, marking a major milestone in large-scale storage deployment. The Patache project will store excess solar power and supply electricity during peak demand, improving grid stability and reducing reliance on fossil fuels.  This development highlights innovation in utility-scale energy storage, enabling efficient renewable integration and enhanced system flexibility. The customer-focused approach ensures reliable and cost-effective electricity supply for industrial and grid users. Backed by strong investment and strategic location near transmission infrastructure, the project supports Chile’s decarbonisation goals and strengthens energy resilience while accelerating the transition to a sustainable power system.
