Cairn Oil Signs 25MW Renewable PPA with Serentica, Advancing Clean Energy in India
Cairn Oil & Gas has signed a 25MW renewable energy power purchase agreement (PPA) with Serentica Renewables to supply clean electricity to its operations in India. The deal supports Cairn’s strategy to reduce carbon emissions and transition toward more sustainable energy sources. The agreement highlights growing corporate adoption of renewable PPAs, enabling cost-effective and reliable power while reducing exposure to fossil fuel price volatility. It also reflects innovation in energy procurement, helping industrial players integrate green energy into core operations. Strategically, the partnership strengthens India’s renewable energy ecosystem, delivering environmental benefits, improving energy efficiency, and supporting long-term sustainability and decarbonisation goals.
Waaree Energies expands solar manufacturing with 3,000 MW Gujarat facility
Waaree Energies has strengthened India’s renewable manufacturing capacity as its subsidiary, Sangam Solar One Private Limited, commenced production at a 3,000 MW solar module facility in Kutch, Gujarat. The plant, located in Samakhiali, features four production lines of 750 MW each and began operations on April 6, 2026. This milestone marks a major scale-up from earlier expansions at the same site, where capacity had already reached 3 GW through phased additions. The new facility supports India’s push to localise solar equipment manufacturing and reduce import dependence, while positioning Waaree Energies to meet rising domestic and global demand for high-efficiency solar modules.
Velocys, Varhad partner to scale biomass-based SAF production in India
Sustainable fuel technology provider Velocys and Varhad Capital Pvt Ltd have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to develop biomass-to-Sustainable Aviation Fuel projects in India. The partnership targets the country’s growing aviation demand and abundant agricultural residues, while addressing cost and scalability challenges in SAF production. Under the agreement, the companies will design facilities using agricultural waste as feedstock, combining Varhad’s gasification platform, which produces syngas and biochar, with Velocys’ Fischer-Tropsch process. The collaboration will deploy a scalable hub-and-spoke model, aiming to produce competitively priced, low-carbon SAF aligned with India’s domestic manufacturing and decarbonization goals.
