Encavis Acquires 65 MW/260 MWh Battery Storage Project in Italy
Encavis has acquired its first utility-scale battery storage project in Italy from ReFeel New Energy, backed by Gresham House Europe and ReFeel Group. Located in Ceprano, Lazio, the standalone battery energy storage system will provide approximately 65 MW of power and 260 MWh of capacity, enabling four-hour electricity delivery. Commissioning is scheduled for 2028. The acquisition supports Encavis’s strategy of combining renewable generation, battery storage and market-based optimisation. The facility will shift electricity availability, provide flexibility and strengthen grid stability as Italy integrates increasing volumes of renewable energy. It will complement Encavis’s existing Italian photovoltaic portfolio of approximately 420 MW, reinforcing the company’s position among Italy’s leading independent solar power producers while expanding its European energy-storage business.
ACCIONA Energia Plans 33 MW/66 MWh of Battery Storage in Spain
ACCIONA Energia will install two battery energy storage systems in Cuenca and Palencia with combined capacity of 33 MW/66 MWh and commissioning targeted for the end of 2027. A 20 MW/40 MWh battery will accompany the 50 MWp Bolarque solar plant in Villalba del Rey, Cuenca. A 13 MW/26 MWh system will be colocated with the 22 MW El Cuadrón wind farm in Hornillos de Cerrato and Torquemada, Palencia. Both batteries provide two-hour storage. ACCIONA Energia previously developed a wind-plus-battery facility at Barasoain, Navarra, in 2017 and operates the 190 MW/380 MWh Cunningham BESS in Texas. The company is also developing storage projects in Chile, strengthening renewable integration, flexibility, supply security and grid stability.
ICF Provides €4 Million for 8.2 MWp of Solar Projects in Catalonia
Institut Catala de Finances (ICF) has provided €4 million, equivalent to approximately US$4.6 million, to Electra Caldense Grup subsidiary Delta Renovables for two solar parks totalling 8.2 MWp in Catalonia. The Obàgols photovoltaic facility in Gallifa, Valles Occidental, will provide 4.4 MWp, while the Caldes de Montbui project in Valles Oriental will contribute 3.8 MWp. Together, the installations will generate electricity equivalent to the annual consumption of nearly 3,500 households. The facilities will use complementary commercial models and support Electra Caldense Grup’s expansion in distributed and locally generated renewable electricity. The financing demonstrates institutional support for decentralised clean-energy investment, helping Catalonia increase domestic solar generation, reduce reliance on conventional electricity sources and accelerate its regional energy transition.
