TEN-T co-funded ELECTRIC project unveiled connecting major UK countries

European Long-Distance Electric Clean Transport Road Infrastructure Corridor, ELECTRIC has been launched officially.

ELECTRIC, the Trans-European Transport Networks (TEN-T) co-funded installation of a corridor of high-quality fast chargers project meant for prime European motorways has been announced.

The total budget of the project amounts to about 8.4 million euros and is scheduled to be completed by 2015.

An open access fast charging corridor will be constructed along major motorways connecting Sweden, Denmark, Germany and the Netherlands, according to the project.

A total of 155 chargers are anticipated for installation, with up to 30 in the Netherlands, 23 in Denmark, 35 in Sweden and 67 in Germany.

The consortium comprises of five partners with ABB from Netherlands in leading position offering fast charge solutions.

In addition, the Dutch e-mobility operator Fastned, the Danish e-mobility operator CLEVER A/S, the Swedish public utility and e-mobility operator Öresundskraft AB and the German Testing and Certification Institute VDE Prüf-und Zertifizierungsinstitut GmbH are also members of the consortium.

According to partners, this corridor will promote acceptance of EVs in the involved Member States.

ELECTRIC is funded through TEN-T, an integral part of European transportation system that contributes to the mobilization infrastructure to connect cities in Europe.

The objective of the TEN-T program is to co-fund investments in transport infrastructure to upgrade the European Transport Networks.

The first charging station of this series has already been established in Denmark, which will be operated by CLEVER A/S followed by next in Netherlands managed by Fastned B.V.

By the end of December 2015 the open access fast charging corridor will be completed.
