Nissan announces Nissan Leaf, the first electric car available for order across all U.S. markets

By Greentech Lead Team: Nissan North America
announced that Nissan LEAF, the world’s first and only electric car, is
available for booking across all U.S. markets. Residents of 21 new states also
will be able to select and order a 2012 Nissan LEAF now.

Nissan made history with the introduction of the Nissan
LEAF, the first affordable, mass-market, pure-electric vehicle. The company has
sold more than 22,000 LEAFs globally, having driven more than 30 million
miles.

Nissan delivers a comprehensive range of fuel-efficient
and low-emissions vehicles under the Nissan and Infiniti brands.

Nissan is dedicated to improving the environment under
the Nissan Green Program and was recognized as an ENERGY STAR Partner of the
Year by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency in 2010 and 2011.

“There is no longer any doubt that a 100-percent
electric, zero-emissions vehicle fulfills the needs and desires of drivers from
around the globe. Nationwide availability of the Nissan LEAF means that now,
anyone in the country can opt for a transportation solution that does not harm
the environment, provides a pathway to energy independence, and doesn’t use a
single drop of gas,” said Brian
Carolin, senior vice president, Sales & Marketing, Nissan North
America.

On March 1, reservation holders in the remaining 21
states received emails from Nissan inviting them to engage in the Nissan LEAF
ordering process. One week later, anyone living in these new markets will have
the opportunity to place a reservation and order a Nissan LEAF. Deliveries will
start taking place in these new markets by summer.

In 2011, Nissan LEAF won the prestigious European
Car of the Year award.
