LONGi Opens Energy Storage Manufacturing Facility Targeting 50 GWh Annual Capacity in China

Chinese solar technology company LONGi has inaugurated an energy storage manufacturing facility in Suzhou High-Tech Zone, expanding its production capabilities for utility-scale and commercial battery systems. The manufacturing base opened on October 9. Its utility-scale battery integration line is scheduled to reach 31 GWh of annual capacity during October 2026, increasing to 50 GWh in the first half of 2027. A separate commercial and industrial production line is expected to manufacture more than 10,000 storage units annually by the end of October. The facility also includes production capabilities for off-grid and microgrid storage systems. Artificial intelligence will support equipment maintenance, production management and automated quality inspection.

Vikram Solar Wins 187 MW TOPCon Module Supply Order for Karnataka and Tamil Nadu Projects

Indian photovoltaic manufacturer Vikram Solar has secured a 187 MW solar module supply contract from an undisclosed renewable-energy developer for projects across three locations in Karnataka and Tamil Nadu. The agreement covers high-efficiency n-type TOPCon G12R solar modules, using glass-to-glass construction and bifacial technology. Individual module power ratings range from 615 Wp to 625 Wp. Supplies are scheduled for completion by December 2026. The contract builds on an existing relationship with the customer and adds to Vikram Solar’s domestic order pipeline. The company previously secured a separate 400 MW module supply order for decentralised solar projects in Maharashtra. Financial consideration and individual project capacities were not disclosed.

Germany Adds 12.76 GW Solar Capacity in Nine Months as September Installations Fall to 1.23 GW

Germany installed approximately 1.23 GW of solar photovoltaic capacity in September 2026, compared with 1.64 GW in August, according to preliminary electricity market registration data. Solar installations during January–September reached approximately 12.76 GW, increasing the country’s operational photovoltaic capacity to around 130.7 GW. September additions included 554 MW of rooftop solar, 479 MW of ground-mounted projects and approximately 42 MW of plug-in solar installations. The number of operational photovoltaic systems reached 6.34 million. Utility-scale installations declined from 1,054 MW in August to 479 MW in September. The figures remain provisional because developers have additional time to register newly commissioned installations, and subsequent reporting may revise monthly capacity totals.
