Scatec and EDF Start Construction of $716 Million, 900 MW Shadwan Wind Farm in Egypt
Scatec and EDF power solutions have started construction of the 900 MW Shadwan onshore wind project in Egypt, with total capital expenditure estimated at $716 million. Scatec has secured a three-year equity bridge facility from The Arab Energy Fund, including $50 million for Shadwan. EDF is targeting a 29 percent equity stake, while Scatec plans to bring additional equity investors into the project. The wind farm is expected to generate approximately 4 TWh annually and avoid around 1.6 million tonnes of CO₂ emissions each year. The project ranks among the largest onshore wind developments currently moving into construction in Africa.
Atmos Renewables Reaches Financial Close on 400 MW / 1.6 GWh Battery and 470 MW Wind Farm
Igneo Infrastructure Partners-backed Atmos Renewables has reached financial close on two major Australian projects: the 400 MW/1,600 MWh Teebar battery energy storage system in Queensland and the 470 MW Parron Maam Marang wind farm in Western Australia. Both projects are supported by Australia’s Capacity Investment Scheme. Together with the 100 MW/400 MWh Merredin BESS, which reached financial close in June 2025, Atmos has now taken approximately 970 MW of CIS-supported capacity through financial close. The latest milestone clears a major financing hurdle for construction of 870 MW of new power capacity, including a four-hour utility-scale battery designed to provide dispatchable capacity and support integration of renewable generation into Australia’s electricity system.
NLC India Renewables Wins 265 MW / 530 MWh Haryana Battery Project
NLC India subsidiary NLC India Renewables has received a Letter of Award from SJVN for a 265 MW/530 MWh standalone battery energy storage portfolio in Haryana. The company secured the entire capacity at a charge of ₹235,000 per MW per month through tariff-based competitive bidding. The portfolio comprises a 250 MW/500 MWh project and a 15 MW/30 MWh project near the 710 MW Panipat Thermal Power Station. The approximately ₹636 crore tender is eligible for viability-gap funding of up to ₹18 lakh/MWh. SJVN is expected to sign a 12-year battery energy storage purchase agreement, with the facilities capable of two charge-discharge cycles daily.
Ocean Breeze Energy to Acquire Germany’s 60 MW Alpha Ventus Offshore Wind Farm Macquarie Asset Management-backed Ocean Breeze Energy has agreed to acquire the 60 MW Alpha Ventus offshore wind farm from EWE, RWE and Vattenfall. The sellers currently own 47.5 percent, 26.25 percent and 26.25 percent, respectively. Commissioned in 2010 about 45 kilometres north of Borkum, Alpha Ventus was Germany’s first offshore wind farm and operates 12 turbines. Ocean Breeze plans to extend the facility’s operation beyond its originally envisaged 20-year lifetime, drawing on experience from its neighbouring 400 MW BARD Offshore 1 project. Financial terms were not disclosed. Completion is expected during the fourth quarter of 2026.
