EIB and Danske Bank Launch €250 Million Guarantee to Support Wind Industry
The European Investment Bank and Danske Bank have signed a €250 million guarantee agreement designed to support financing for companies in Europe’s wind-energy supply chain. The arrangement is intended to improve access to bank guarantees and financing required by turbine manufacturers and other suppliers as they expand production and execute increasingly large wind projects. Equipment companies often need substantial guarantees before receiving payments from developers, making access to financial capacity an important constraint on industry expansion. Europe is seeking to accelerate wind installations while simultaneously strengthening domestic manufacturing and reducing supply-chain bottlenecks. The EIB-backed arrangement should enable Danske Bank to support additional wind-sector transactions and illustrates how public financial institutions are increasingly using guarantees to mobilise private capital for clean-energy manufacturing and infrastructure.
India Adds 6.6 GW of Rooftop Solar Capacity in First Half of 2026
India added approximately 6.6 GW of rooftop solar capacity during the first half of 2026, demonstrating rapid expansion beyond the country’s large utility-scale solar projects. Rooftop installations are increasingly important for households, businesses and industrial customers seeking lower electricity costs and greater control over energy consumption. The increase is being supported by government programmes, falling equipment costs and stronger interest in distributed renewable power. Rapid rooftop growth also creates opportunities for module manufacturers, inverter suppliers, installers, financing companies and battery-storage providers. India added about 26 GW of solar capacity overall during H1 2026, underlining the scale of the country’s photovoltaic expansion. Continued rooftop growth could reduce pressure on distribution networks during daylight hours while helping India progress toward its national renewable-energy targets.
Google Signs Long-Term PPA for 90 MW Finnish Wind Farm
Suomen Hyötytuuli has signed a long-term power purchase agreement with Google covering electricity from the 90 MW Alajoki-Peuralinna onshore wind farm in Finland. The agreement gives the wind project a major corporate offtaker while helping Google secure additional renewable electricity for its operations. Corporate PPAs have become an important financing mechanism for European wind projects because they provide developers with predictable long-term revenues while allowing large electricity users to support new renewable capacity. Finland has attracted significant wind investment because of its strong resources, available land and growing corporate electricity demand. Google is also a major Nordic electricity consumer through its data and technology operations. The 90 MW agreement demonstrates how technology companies continue to influence development of new European renewable-generation capacity through long-term procurement contracts.
