Recurrent Energy Secures $695 Million for 330 MW California Solar Project
Recurrent Energy, a Canadian Solar subsidiary, closed $695 million in project financing and tax equity for the 330 MW Cobalt Solar facility in Riverside County, California. The project, located about 20 miles west of Blythe, is fully permitted, under construction and scheduled for commercial operation by the end of 2027. Blattner Energy is providing engineering, procurement and construction services. MUFG and Nord/LB led a $484 million debt package comprising construction and term loans, a tax-equity bridge loan and letter-of-credit facility. Wells Fargo supplied $211 million in tax equity. Once operating, Cobalt Solar should generate electricity equivalent to annual consumption by 82,000 homes and deliver approximately $14 million in property-tax revenue to Riverside County, strengthening California’s renewable supply and local economy.
Pando Energy Wins $200 Million EPC Scope for Illinois Solar and Storage Portfolio
Pando Energy Partners secured exclusive engineering, procurement and construction rights for 16 community solar and battery-storage projects across south-central and northern Illinois. The initial portfolio totals approximately 108 MW DC of solar capacity, while eight sites will include more than 157 MWh of battery storage. Pando estimates the combined EPC scope at nearly $200 million. Construction will follow prevailing-wage standards and support implementation of the Illinois Climate and Equitable Jobs Act. Orbital Energy, a principal Pando member, brings nationwide delivery experience exceeding 1.9 GW of solar and nearly 6 GWh of battery storage. The St. Louis-based partnership also plans to build a hiring pool in East St. Louis, connecting workforce development with a distributed clean-energy construction programme for Illinois communities.
Blue Energy and GE Vernova Hitachi Advance 2.5 GW Texas Nuclear Project
Blue Energy and GE Vernova Hitachi Nuclear Energy signed an agreement advancing a proposed 2.5 GW gas-plus-nuclear power plant in Victoria, Texas. The next phase covers engineering design, licensing and safety analysis for a facility combining GE Vernova 7HA.02 gas turbines with BWRX-300 small modular reactors. A final investment decision is targeted for 2027. Blue Energy says the configuration is intended to answer rising United States electricity demand from artificial intelligence and advanced manufacturing while pairing dispatchable gas generation with modular nuclear capacity. Its “Blue Way” construction strategy uses off-site fabrication, transportation and assembly of prefabricated modules to improve schedule, cost and delivery predictability. The agreement advances the project, although construction remains subject to approvals and the 2027 investment decision.
