BC Jindal Group’s Jindal India Power is accelerating its renewable energy business with a new agreement for 160 MW of wind turbine generators, supporting the development of its 150 MW Round-the-Clock (RTC) renewable energy project in Karnataka.
Jindal India Power has signed a term sheet with SANY Wind Energy India for the supply of 160 MW Wind Turbine Generators (WTGs). The wind turbines will be deployed at the company’s RTC renewable energy project awarded by the Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI).
The 150 MW renewable energy project, being developed in Davanagere, Karnataka, will integrate wind power, solar energy and battery energy storage systems (BESS) to deliver reliable clean electricity around the clock.
160 MW Wind Turbines to Support Jindal India Power’s RTC Strategy
The agreement with SANY Wind Energy India represents a major step in moving Jindal India Power’s SECI project from the planning stage into execution.
RTC renewable energy projects combine multiple generation and storage technologies to reduce the impact of intermittency. Jindal India Power’s project will use wind and solar generation alongside battery storage to provide a more consistent and dependable supply of renewable electricity.
The 160 MW wind turbine capacity will form an important component of the 150 MW RTC project, strengthening its ability to deliver firm renewable power.
Jindal India Power Expands Renewable Energy Portfolio
The project highlights Jindal India Power’s strategy of expanding its renewable energy presence while maintaining a diversified generation portfolio.
The integration of wind, solar and battery storage is increasingly important for India’s energy transition because it can improve the reliability of renewable electricity and support power supply beyond the periods when individual renewable resources are generating electricity.
For Jindal India Power, the SANY Wind Energy agreement provides a critical equipment component required to advance the SECI project toward implementation.
The development also strengthens the company’s presence in Karnataka’s renewable energy market, with Davanagere serving as the location for the integrated RTC project.
Jindal India Power Balances Renewable and Thermal Energy Investments
Alongside its renewable energy investments, Jindal India Power is taking steps to strengthen fuel security for its conventional power operations.
The company recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with The Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL) for procurement of high-quality coal from the Naini Coal Mine.
The coal procurement arrangement is intended to improve long-term fuel security for Jindal India Power’s thermal power operations, while investments in wind, solar and battery storage expand the company’s clean-energy portfolio.
This dual approach reflects Jindal India Power’s strategy of addressing India’s growing electricity requirements through a combination of conventional generation and new renewable energy capacity.
The 160 MW SANY wind turbine agreement and 150 MW SECI RTC project are significant elements of that transition, positioning Jindal India Power to participate in India’s growing market for renewable projects capable of supplying more reliable, round-the-clock clean electricity.
