Suzlon subsidiary wins wind turbine orders from PowerWorks, USA

Suzlon, a wind energy provider based in India, announced its U.S subsidiary Suzlon Wind Energy Corp (SWECO) has won a wind turbine order from PowerWorks, USA, for supplying up to 98.7 MW of wind turbines.

Financial details of the contracts were not disclosed.

The contract allows the company to supply wind turbines for projects in California and Illinois in the U.S. In addition the company will also oversee the operations, maintenance and service of the wind turbines for a period of two years, it said.

Suzlon  will supply up to 29 units of the 2.1 MW wind turbines and 17 units of the 2.1 MW wind turbines for projects in Illinois and California in Panther Creek wind project.

According to Duncan Koerbel, CEO of Suzlon Wind Energy Corporation, the S111 blade profile has an optimum pressure coefficient distribution which is ideal for lower wind sites, in a variety of climates, including those at higher altitudes.
Suzlon has a strong focus on the U.S market as it offers a favorable renewable energy environment and federal policy framework moving in the right direction, said Suzlon Energy chairman Tulsi Tanti.
