Under the terms of the agreement, Siemens is to service and maintain turbines built between 2010 and 2012, installed during the first three phases of the Bison Wind Energy Center and Bison Phase 4 that began operations in January.

The agreement covers 85 SWT-3.0-101 direct drive turbines at Bison Phase 1B, Bison 2 and Bison 3.

Another 64 SWT-3.2-113 units at the project’s last phase, Bison 4 are to be serviced under the agreement.

Minnesota Power boasts the largest fleet of Siemens’ D3 turbines in the US, a statement says.

Siemens currently provides service and maintenance for more than 3,700 installed wind turbines in the Americas and more than 9,000 globally. These have combined generating capacity of about 22 gigawatts.
