Trina Solar announced that the company’s 40MW of solar PV modules has been operational in the largest solar project in the Philippines.

The Project was developed by Helios Solar Energy Corporation, a joint venture between local solar project developer Gregorio Araneta and Equis, an independent renewable energy developer and investor in Asia.

The 132.5MW solar Project was built on a 170-hectare land area in Cadiz City of the Negros Occidental province. Bouygues Construction is providing the engineering, procurement and construction management (EPC) services.

Located just three kilometers from the coastline, the project calls for superior performance for solar modules including capabilities such as resistance to potential induced degradation (PID), salt spray corrosion and wind pressure. Trina Solar’s solar products are well equipped to meet the requirements.

Helena Li, assistant vice president, regional head of APEC & Middle East Region at Trina Solar, said, “This partnership is largely a result of our long-running commitment to emerging markets. The Philippine solar industry has tremendous room for development, and the region’s supportive policies towards renewable energy make it an attractive market for us.”
