SolarCity to offer free installation of solar in Connecticut

Lead Team:
SolarCity, a provider of clean energy services, announced it will
install solar panels for free for homeowners and businesses in Connecticut.

They will be
able to pay less for solar electricity than they pay for utility power.
SolarCity is expanding to Connecticut in large part due to the efforts of the
state through programs at Connecticut Clean Energy Finance and Investment
Authority (CEFIA) and the Department of Energy and Environmental Protection
(DEEP) to promote, develop and invest in clean energy and energy efficiency
projects.

SolarCity offers customers the option to purchase their systems and installation, or to
have the panels installed for free and pay only for the solar electricity they
produce.

“Why pay a
premium for power generated by fossil fuels when you can pay less for cleaner
energy? Connecticut residents pay some of the highest electricity rates in the
nation. We can give them the option to reduce those bills and do something
positive for the environment at the same time,” said Ed Steins, SolarCity’s
regional director in the Northeastern U.S.

The company
expects to be able to allow many Connecticut homeowners and businesses to save
thousands of dollars on electricity costs.

SolarCity
will also perform comprehensive energy efficiency evaluations to provide
recommendations for further opportunities for cost savings and to improve
indoor air quality and comfort.

Recently,
SolarCity and the Maui Arts & Cultural Center (MACC) celebrated the
installation of a large solar project to provide renewable power on-site at the
Center. The 463-kilowatt system, with close to 2,000 panels, is one of the
largest to date on Maui.
