Asia: LDK Solar, a vertically integrated manufacturer of
photovoltaic (PV) products, has signed three multi-year engineering, procurement,
and construction (EPC) agreements. All three projects are located in the
Gansu province, China.
“We are pleased to continue to expand our presence
in China’s solar industry through these projects. These contracts
demonstrate continued demand for PV project development services
within,” said Xiaofeng Peng, chairman and CEO
of LDK Solar.
All three projects consist of 200 MW each. LDK
Solar will construct the first project in Jiuquan City, the
second project in Jayuguan City over three years and the third project in
Zhangye City over two years.
Fluor sets up polysilicon plant in China for LDK Solar
Recently, LDK Solar contracted with Fluor, an
engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contractor, to set up LDK
Solar’s polysilicon plant in China. LDK Solar will produce solar-grade silicon
for the photovoltaic industry at this plant.
The production of polysilicon, which consists of small
silicon crystals, is a complicated step in the solar value chain. Fluor
provided engineering, procurement and construction management services for the
plant.
