DMRC to install solar panels on footbridges along Faridabad corridor

Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has decided to install solar power panels on footbridges along the Faridabad corridor.

The panels are to be installed on footbridges at all nine Metro stations from Sarai to Escorts Mujesar and are expected to produce solar power of total capacity of 225 kilowatts.

According to Anuj Dayal, the executive director of corporate communications, DMRC, the project is expected to be completed in the next few months.

So far DMRC has installed solar panels at all stations of the Faridabad corridor and Ajronda depot with a total generation capacity of 1.9 MWp.

The power generated is being used for lighting and other auxiliary requirements of the station and depot buildings.

DMRC has so far commissioned solar power facilities at Dwarka Sector 21, Anand Vihar, Pragati Maidan, Metro Enclave, Yamuna Bank station, Yamuna bank depot, and ITO. Together these generate approximately 2,800 kilowatts peak.
