India’s Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman announced two major initiatives that will boost the country’s solar industry.
The government proposed to expand PM Kusum Scheme to 20 lakh farmers to set up solar pumps.
The minister also proposed the setting up of large solar power capacity alongside the railway tracks on Indian Railways’ land.
The move is likely to reduce its annual electricity bills. Indian Railways aims to become a net-zero carbon emitter by 2030.
