AEG Power Solutions signs photovoltaic equipment contract with Activ Solar

Greentech Lead Europe: AEG Power Solutions, a
manufacturer of power electronic systems and solutions for industrial power
supplies and renewable energies, signed equipment and services contract with
Vienna based company Activ Solar.

This deal covers photovoltaic utility scale equipment and
services for a minimum of 170 MW until the end of 2013. This agreement follows
an existing contract signed in the second half of 2010 covering the complete
electrical systems for 14 PV power plants, each of approximately 20 MW.

Under this agreement, AEG Power Solutions will provide
its turnkey solutions to equip new photovoltaic power plants in Eastern Europe.
This includes
solar inverter stations based on TKS-C
containerized outdoor stations, including latest generation central inverters,
transformers and medium voltage switchgear and the most comprehensive
monitoring and supervision system (PV Guard) provided by AEG PS’ subsidiary,
skytron. AEG Power Solutions will deliver and commission the equipment on site.

“We won this follow-up contract because of the
complete and premium solutions we have provided in the first phase. We built up
a strong relationship with Activ Solar and met their expectations perfectly. Other
important reasons for winning the follow-up project are our local presence and
our ability to fulfill local requirements,” said Bob Roos, vice-president
Solar Strategic Business Units of the Group.

Since the company started developing solar business, it
has been implementing its strategy to develop a position in the renewable
energies business and in the photovoltaic sector with a special focus on
solutions for utility scale power plants with its large solar inverters and
monitoring and supervising products from skytron.

“Eastern European countries and India have fueled
our solar growth in 2011. The recent opening of our factory in South Africa, as
well as this contract, demonstrates how we are strengthening our position in
the renewable energy market and how our global footprint constitutes a major
strength while Western European solar markets are maturing,” said Horst.
J. Kayser, chief executive officer of AEG Power Solutions.

AEG Power Solutions expands solar business to South
Africa

AEG Power Solutions constructed a manufacturing facility
for its utility-scale solar inverters and skytron combiner boxes for its
monitoring and control solutions. The factory, based in Montague Park in
Milnerton has a capacity to produce at least 200 MW per annum.
