Coca-Cola Nigeria to sign pact for efficient waste management

Greentech Lead Africa: Coca-Cola Nigeria is planning to
sign an agreement on efficient waste management with Nestle Nigerian Breweries
and Pepsi.

The agreement is part of Coca-Cola’s program to ensure
proper collection of discarded products from the environment and their eventual
recycling into other usable products.

“There is no such thing as waste. We all should know that
every waste material is wealth in disguise,” said Clem Ugorji, Coca-Cola’s
public affairs and communications manager.

As part of its efforts to improve the environment, Coca-Cola has recycled
close to one billion plastic bottles and established 22 collection centers
across the country and provided about 2,000 jobs for Nigerian women.

Recycling though ensuring efficient re-use of discarded
materials had also provided employment for many youths who are involved in the
collection and sorting processes.
