Today’s renewable energy news include announcements on Reliance Power, Tigo Energy, Coal India, among others.
Reliance Power to Invest ₹10,000 Crore in Solar-BESS Project
Reliance Power’s subsidiary, Reliance NU Suntech, has signed a 25-year Power Purchase Agreement with the Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) to develop a 930 MW solar power project with a 465 MW/1,860 MWh battery energy storage system (BESS) in India. The total investment for the project is ₹10,000 crore, with a fixed tariff of ₹3.53 per kWh. The project aims to enhance grid stability and is expected to be commissioned within 24 months, contributing to India’s renewable energy capacity.
Tigo Energy Enhances TS4-A MLPE Series with 725W, 22A Models
Tigo Energy has expanded its TS4-A Module-Level Power Electronics (MLPE) series to support high-wattage solar modules up to 725W and 22A. These new models are UL-certified and compatible with existing TS4-A products. They feature a 10-second, no-bolt frame mounting design, eliminating the need for additional ground wiring. The TS4-A-O 725W model is also compatible with Tigo’s Access Point (TAP) and Cloud Connect Advanced (CCA) for advanced data management. This enhancement allows installers to maximize energy production per rooftop space, catering to both residential and commercial installations.
Coal India and UPRVUNL Collaborate for 500 MW Solar Project in Uttar Pradesh
Coal India (CIL) and Uttar Pradesh Rajya Vidyut Utpadan Nigam (UPRVUNL) have signed a non-binding Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to set up a 500 MW solar power project in Uttar Pradesh. The MoU aims to support CIL’s efforts to diversify into green energy and help meet the increasing energy demand in the region. The collaboration could also pave the way for future joint ventures in renewable energy. This initiative is in line with India’s broader strategy to expand renewable energy capacity and reduce reliance on fossil fuels.
Dong Fang Offshore Orders Third Service Vessel for Taiwan Wind Projects
Dong Fang Offshore (DFO) has contracted VARD to build a third Commissioning Service Operation Vessel (CSOV) for offshore wind operations in Taiwan. The 102.7-meter vessel, based on the VARD 4 39 design, will be constructed at VARD Vung Tau in Vietnam and delivered in early 2028. It will begin a 15-year service contract for an undisclosed wind farm client in Taiwan. The CSOV will include a battery system, crane, walk-to-work gangway, and accommodations for 120 personnel, and will be prepared for future fuel technologies.
