Saint Peter’s University Hospital, New Jersey, now sports a five-station electric vehicle charging system. Public Service Electric and Gas Company (PSE&G) has set up the system on the ground floor of the hospital’s CARES parking garage.
PSE&G has installed the system as a pilot aimed at encouraging adoption of EVs in its service territory. The charging station will be utilized by staff members with EVs.
According to a statement, PSE&G has provided the EV charging equipment free-of-charge and the hospital paid for the installation of the units. It will also pay for ongoing maintenance and electricity costs.
At present, the pilot program of PSE&G has 25 EV charging stations in service at four customer locations around the state.
PSE&G is developing 10 other charging stations for two other customers. The utility is also in discussion with several other customers to install 50 individual charging stations at 10 customer locations by the end of 2015, the statement adds.
The EV charging station is the third project that has brought PSE&G and Saint Peter’s Healthcare System together.
