Mitsubishi Electric India appoints Makoto Kitai as new MD

Mitsubishi Electric India has appointed Makoto Kitai as its new managing director replacing Shinji Yamabe.

The development comes on the heels of the transfer of Yamabe to Japan to take up the responsibility at Global Strategic Planning & Marketing Group as general manager, Regional Marketing Division.

Yamabe continues to mentor MEI as a member of board of directors.

Kitai has been looking after Asia operations of Mitsubishi Electric’s global strategic planning and marketing group. He has been part of Mitsubishi Electric Corporation since 1987 and has handled various roles in sales, marketing, budget control, management support and project management.

Addressing the employees of Mitsubishi Electric India, Kitai said, “Mitsubishi Electric is committed to India and will operate here with firm determination to excel. I strongly believe that our wide range of businesses, leading-edge technologies and MEI’s effective operations, will make a positive contribution towards India’s economy and society.”

Talking about his new role, Yamabe said, “I would like to devote myself to strengthen our business in India from global perspective. My principal place of business will be different from April. But, I would like to continue to help develop MEI’s business as an India supporter with the same ambition and dream as yours.”
