Fuel Tech signs $7.6 million air pollution control contract in Taiwan

Greentech Lead America: Fuel Tech, a provider of advanced
engineering solutions for the optimization of combustion systems and emissions
control in utility and industrial applications, has been awarded a $7.6 million
contract to supply equipment and engineering services for an ASCR Advanced SCR
project in Taiwan, Republic of China.

This contract represents the company’s third ASCR order
in China.

This contract incorporates Fuel Tech’s combined Low
NOxBurner (LNB), Over-Fire Air (OFA), NOxOUT Selective Non-Catalytic
Reduction (SNCR) and Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) technologies.

Fuel Tech is engaged in the worldwide development,
commercialization and application of state-of-the-art proprietary technologies
for air pollution control, process optimization, and advanced engineering
services. These technologies enable customers to produce both energy and
processed materials in a cost-effective and environmentally sustainable manner.

Fuel Tech’s ASCR system is a layered technology approach
that can offer advantages over full-scale stand-alone SCR systems, including
lower capital costs, enhanced fuel flexibility and reduced equipment footprint
requirements.

“We continue to see increased discussions with operators
of power plants and industrial units as a result of more stringent
NOx control regulations in the Pacific Rim market,” Douglas G. Bailey,
chairman, president and chief executive officer.

“These ASCR contract awards display our unique capability
to integrate technologies ranging from Low NOx Burners, Over-Fire Air and
hybrid SNCR/SCR into one system that offers a competitive and capital-efficient
NOx reduction solution to power plant units of all sizes,” Bailey added.

The technology approach synergistically integrates
three mainstream nitrogen oxide (NOx) control technologies: combustion
modifications, SNCR, and SCR into one cost-effective, high-performance
NOx reduction solution.
